Acoustics BEM remote solving workflow (Linux)

The following steps summarize the overall process to prepare a job for solving on a remote Linux system (computer or cluster), and to retrieve and post-process the results on a local Windows system.

The standalone Acoustics BEM solver must be installed on the remote Linux system. If the solver is not already installed:

  1. Contact Customer Support for information on how to download it.

  2. Use the Installation of Acoustics BEM Solvers and PreSolver user manual to install the solver.

Step Summary Detailed help topic
1. Set up model Set up model for acoustics or transient BEM solve. Acoustics BEM workflow (see step 1 through step Select Solution Parameters)Acoustics Transient BEM workflow (see step 1 through step Select Solution Parameters)
2. Edit solver parameters Edit solver parameters to specify path and filename of the Solver Script Location and path of the Solver Temporary Directory that typically reside on the remote Linux system. Also, set Target Operating System Family to Unix and specify parallel processing options.
3. Request solver input file Select Write Solver Input File in the Solve dialog box to only create an input file without performing a solve.
4. Transfer input file Manually transfer file to the remote Linux system where the Acoustics BEM solver is installed.
5. Solve solution Execute solver script on Linux system. If the Linux system is a cluster, create and execute a job with a resource manager and job scheduler.Note: The following resource managers are supported: Platform LSF, PBS Professional, OpenPBS, Torque, LoadLeveler, and Grid Engine.
6. Transfer result file Manually transfer the Simcenter 3D Acoustic BEM Database File (*.ssndb) to the local Windows system.
7. Associate result file with solution On the local Windows system, associate result file with the existing solution through Simulation Navigator functionality. Associating solver output with a solution
8. Post-process results Use post-processing tools, such as contour plots or XY graphing to analyze your results. Use Post-processing Scenario or Post Processing Navigator to display your output. Scenario-based post-processingCreate contour plots
