Meshing > 3D tetrahedral meshing

Create a 3D tetrahedral mesh

  1. Click 3D Tetrahedral Mesh .

  2. In the graphics window, select the solid body to mesh.

  3. Choose an element type from the Type list.

  4. Enter an element size, or click to have the software calculate an appropriate element size.

  5. For parabolic tetrahedral elements, use the options in the Mesh Quality Options group to control how the software projects the elements' midnodes onto the geometry.

  6. (Optional) Use the options in the Mesh Settings and Model Cleanup Options groups to specify additional mesh settings.

  7. Specify the destination mesh collector:Select Automatic Creation to have the software create a new destination mesh collector. This mesh collector uses the default physical properties and inherits the material properties of the solid model. To use an existing mesh collector, clear the Automatic Creation check box and select a collector from the Mesh Collector list.To create a new destination collector, clear the Automatic Creation check box and click New Collector .

  8. (Optional) Select the Preview check box to view the nodal distribution along the boundaries of the body. If you are not satisfied with the previewed mesh, you can modify the Element Size value.

  9. Click OK or Apply to generate the mesh.
