CSD response functions

You can use the Evaluate CSD Function Response dialog box to generate a cross-spectral density (CSD) response function from within a Random event. You can specify a “reference” node or element and multiple “response” nodes or elements in the location where the response is to be evaluated on the model. The software creates a CSD function that correlates the response between the two points. Correlating the response of one input to another can help you understand phase and magnitude relationships.

Function names

Response functions are stored as function records in an AFU file with the same name as your Response Dynamics solution process. In the AFU file, the node or element ID, reference location, and response location (and direction) are reflected in each function's name. For example, 2_(73Z+,79Z+)_1 means the function “2” is the CSD function that correlates the responses at reference node 73 in the positive Z direction and response node 79 in the positive Z direction.

Where do I find it?

  • Choose Response Dynamics tab→Response Dynamics group→Evaluate CSD Functions .

  • Simulation Navigator→right-click the Event node→Evaluate Function ResponseCSD
