Modeling the interface between ducts and 3D fluid elements

  • Use a Duct or Duct with Thick Walls types of 1D mesh collector.

  • Make sure a node from the duct mesh lies on the face of the 3D fluid mesh.

  • Apply a Duct to 3D Flow Connection type of the Duct Flow Boundary Conditions simulation object to the face of the 1D-3D interface.

  • If you model the duct walls, make sure that you connect them to the rest of the model using thermal couplings.
