Define a design variable

  1. Choose Laminates tab→Laminate group→Laminate Physical Property to open the Laminate Modeler dialog box.

  2. In the Type list of the Design Variable Manager group, select a design variable type and click on Create Design Variable to open the Design Variable Specification dialog box.

  3. For Ply Angle and Ply Thickness types, select the Domain TypeIf you select Discrete in the Domain Type, define an allowable discrete value by entering it in the value filed, then click Add value to list . Continue until you defined all possible values. If you select Continuous in the Domain Type, enter the Min and Max values for the lower and upper bounds of the continuous range for the current design variable. For Ply Material type of design variable, select the allowable material from the material list, then click Add value to list . Continue until you selected all possible materials.

  4. Click OK to close the Design Variable Specification dialog box.
