Laminate Optimizer Configuration dialog box — Basic Params page

See Genetic algorithm for laminate optimization for more information.

Basic Info
Genetic Algorithm Lets you select which genetic algorithm to use.Select Standard when using only continuous design variables.Select Hybrid when using discrete design variables to search for better designs using a local search algorithm.
Population Size Lets you enter the number of designs which create the population for each generation.
Multi-Elitism (Nk) Lets you enter the number Nk. The next generation is created using the Nk best designs of the current population and N - Nk best designs of the children population.
Random Number Generator
Seed Type Controls the seed type of the random number generator.Select Fixed if you need repeatability between two or more optimization runs as the same random numbers are used for each run.Select Pseudo-Random (cpu time) to let the software select the random numbers based on cpu time. This is the recommended option.
Seed Value Available only when you select Fixed from the Seed Type list.Lets you enter the initial seed value for the fixed seed type of the random number generator.
Stopping Criteria
Generation without Improvement Lets you enter the number of generations without improvement in the fitness function after which the optimization stops.
Maximum Generations Lets you enter the maximum number of generations the optimization runs.
