Boundary Condition Display dialog box
| Boundary Condition | |||
|---|---|---|---|
| Select Object | Lets you select the boundary condition whose display symbols you want to modify. | ||
| Display Mode | |||
| Lets you display boundary condition symbols on grid points, on nodes, or offset from edges.(1) Collapsed display; (2) Expanded display; (3) Offset display | |||
| Collapsed | For each geometric entity you select, the number of UV draw locations that you specify in Grid Points – U and Grid Points – V will be shown. For irregular geometry, the number of locations may be reduced. The size of the display object is determined by the relative magnitude at that location.If the boundary condition is applied to FE entities, the Collapsed display looks identical to the Expanded display. | ||
| Expanded | A display symbol is drawn at each FE entity to which the boundary condition is formatted. This can be a node, element, element face, or element edge. The size of the display object is determined by the relative magnitude at that FE location.If the boundary condition is applied to geometry, and the geometry is not meshed, the Expanded display looks identical to the Collapsed display. | ||
| Offset | Displays boundary conditions as lines offset to the outside of the edge to which you apply the boundary conditions. For boundary conditions such as Thermal Stream loads, arrows appear at the end of each line segment to show the stream direction. If you apply the boundary conditions to entities other than edges, the boundary conditions appear in the Collapsed mode. | ||
| Symbols | |||
| Text | Turns on and off the text display of these entities that are part of the load/constraint symbols. | ||
| Graphic | Turns on and off the graphic display of these entities that are part of the load/constraint symbols. | ||
| Simplify When Over Threshold | Available when Display Mode is set to Expanded.Displays a single display symbol when the quantity of attached entities exceeds the threshold value. | ||
| Threshold | The maximum number of display symbols to display. | ||
| Grid Points — U | Specifies the number of grid points in the first parametric direction of a face. The grid points are used to generate locations for the symbol display. This option also applies to edges and curves. | ||
| Grid Points — V | Specifies the number of grid points in the second parametric direction of a face. The grid points are used to generate locations for the symbol display. | ||
| Shade Arrow Cone Heads | Specifies whether or not the cone heads of graphic symbols are shaded. | ||
| Scale | Specifies the scale of the graphic symbol relative to the size of the bounding box of the FE model. | ||
| Translucency | Specifies the display translucency from Opaque to Translucent. | ||
| Display Parameters | |||
| Color | Sets the color for the load/constraint symbol. | ||
| Line Width | Sets the line width for the load/constraint symbol. | ||
| Name Value Solver Card Name Element/Node Value Element/Node Label | Turns on and off the graphic display of these entities that are part of the load/constraint symbols. | ||
| Rotate Text Label | Controls whether to rotate name labels that identify boundary conditions applied to edges.Select the Rotate Text Label check box to rotate the name label along the edge to which the boundary condition is applied. Clear the Rotate Text Label check box to maintain the name label horizontal to the view. Rotated****Horizontal | Rotated | Horizontal |
| Rotated | Horizontal | ||
| Degrees of Freedom for Constraints | Displays the fixed degrees of freedom for constraints. | ||
| Highlight Targets when Selected | When you select a load or constraint, highlights the nodes, elements, or geometry to which the load or constraint is applied. |
