Convection dialog box (Abaqus)

Type
Type Controls how the convection is applied.FreeDefines either a surface film condition (if you select element faces or edges, or polygon faces or edges) or a concentrated film condition (if you select nodes or points).Free Convection on 2D Element FacesDefines a surface film condition on 2D element faces.Free Convection on RegionsDefines a surface film condition on a region.
Destination Folder
Constraint Container Specifies the folder in the Simulation Navigator in which the boundary condition will be stored. The list includes the root container and existing folders that you created using the New Folder command. Examples of a root container include Load Container, Constraint Container, and Simulation Object Container.
Folder Manager Displays a hierarchical listing of existing folders. To create a new folder, right-click any level of the hierarchy and choose New Folder.
Model Objects
Group Reference Lets you apply the constraint to a group. For more information, see Group Reference options.
Select Object Lets you select the geometry or FE entities on which the constraint is applied. Use the Excluded options to remove individual entities, such as elements, from your selection.
Stacked Smart Selector Methods Opens the Smart Selector Methods dialog box where you can specify a progression of smart selection filters. For more information, see Smart Selector Methods dialog box.
Surface
Surface Lets you select the Region that defines the surface to which to apply the convection. You can must use an element-based surface definition to define the region.Select an existing region or click New Region to create a new region. See the Region dialog box.
Properties
Sink Temperature Lets you specify the sink temperature value, Θ0. For more information, see Additional magnitude options.
Film Coefficient Lets you specify the film coefficient, h.
Film Type Appears when the type is set to Free Convection on 2D Element Faces. Lets you control the direction in which the film condition is applied to the 2D elements.FPOS Applies the condition in the elements’ positive normal direction.FNEGApplies the condition in the elements’ negative normal direction.
Card Name Displays the name of the corresponding Abaqus keyword.
