Fields > Table fields
Duplicate data
You can specify how table fields process duplicate data. Duplicate data is tabular data for which there are multiple data points that have the same values for their independent domain.
For example, suppose that an external text file that you intend to import contains the following set of (x,y) tabular data:
1,73,53,34,65,7
The data points at x = 3 represent duplicate data.
To specify how the software uses the duplicate data when it looks up a value, in the Table Field dialog box, from the Duplicate Values list, select one of the following options:
Not Allowed
The software issues an error message if duplicate values are present.
Average
The software uses the arithmetic mean of the duplicate values in the table lookup.
In the example, the software uses (3,4) in a table lookup.
Min
The software uses the algebraic minimum of the duplicate values in the table lookup.
In the example, the software uses (3,3) in a table lookup.
Max
The software uses the algebraic maximum of the duplicate values in the table lookup.
In the example, the software uses (3,5) in a table lookup.
First
The software uses the first of the duplicate values in the table lookup.
In the example, the software uses (3,5) in a table lookup.
Last
The software uses the last of the duplicate values in the table lookup.
In the example, the software uses (3,3) in a table lookup.
Skip
The software ignores the duplicate data in a table lookup.
If you migrate a table that was created in a version of the software prior to Simcenter 3D 2019.1, the software automatically sets the Duplicate Values list to Not Allowed.
