Abaqus environment > Importing and exporting Abaqus data

Compressing node sets when exported

You can set the Use GENERATE Parameter in Node Set check box in the Customer Defaults dialog box to instruct the software to compact the format of a node set (NSET) using the Abaqus *GENERATE parameter to the *NSET keyword. The *GENERATE parameter only includes the first node, the last node, and the increment between nodes.

For example, the following lines add all the nodes from 1 to 32 in increments of 1 to set A13:

NSET, NSET=A13, GENERATE1, 32, 1

If the software cannot find an increment from 1 to 10, it exports the group set with each node label listed individually. In that case, in the Export Simulation dialog box, select the Export to all groups to node and element sets check box to instruct the software to export all node sets. For more information, see Exporting finite element data.
