Create an Automatically Matched Layer (AML)

  1. In the Simulation Navigator, expand an active solution, right-click the Simulation Objects container, and choose New Simulation ObjectAutomatically Matched Layer.Alternatively, choose Home tab→Loads and Conditions group→Simulation Object TypeAutomatically Matched Layer .

  2. In the Automatically Matched Layer dialog box, in the Automatically Matched Layer Surfaces group, define the AML region.Click Create Region  to create the AML region, and define it in one of the following ways:By selecting fluid element free faces:Click RegionSet .In the graphics window, select the fluid element free faces.By referencing a group:Select the Group Reference check box. From the region objects table, select an existing group of fluid element faces.See Create and manage groups for more details.Click OK.

  3. From the Radiation Surface list, select the surface to define the radiating behavior of the AML region.

  4. (Optional) In the Automatically Matched Layer Settings group, in the Number of Layers box, type the number of layers in the AML boundary.

  5. In the Infinite Planes group, create or select up to three reflecting regions. To create an infinite plane region, click Create Region and define it in one of the following ways:By selecting fluid element free faces:Click RegionSet .In the graphics window, select the fluid element free faces.By referencing a group:Select the Group Reference check box. From the region objects table, select an existing group of fluid element faces.See Create and manage groups for more details. To select an existing infinite plane region, in the Infinite Plane Type group, from the Infinite Plane Type list, select the infinite plane type.Define the remaining infinite planes as needed.

  6. Click OK to create the AML and exit the dialog box.

A new AML is added under the Simulation Objects container.

You can reuse the defined AML by dragging it to multiple solutions.
