Face from Mesh dialog box

Selection
Meshes/Element Faces Lets you select the 2D meshes, 2D elements, or 3D element free faces on which to create one or more polygon faces.
Add Feature Edges
Select Element Edges Lets you subdivide the new face by defining feature edges along the edges of selected elements. Select the individual element edges that you want to use to an edge or edges in the new face.Note: Use the Connected Element Edges smart selection method with the Prefer Edge Angle option to have the software favor the path that minimizes the edge angle between the first and last element edge you select. This path is the most tangent continuous path.
Face from Mesh Parameters
Element Face Feature Angle Available if Type is set to 2D MeshDefines the maximum angle value between the normals on adjacent element faces. The software uses this value to determine whether to create a polygon edge at that location.Enter a value between 0 and 180°.If the angle is less than the threshold value, the software does not create a polygon edge.If the angle between adjacent element faces is greater than this value, then the software creates a polygon edge along the chain of element edges.
Element Edge Feature Angle Defines the maximum angle value between adjacent element edges. The software uses this value to determine whether to create a vertex at that location. If the angle is less than the threshold value, the software does not create a vertex. If the angle between adjacent element faces is greater than this value, then the software creates a vertex.
Keep Internal Edges Controls whether the software retains any scar edges in the interior of the mesh. Select this option to have the software create a polygon edge at the location of existing scars.Note: A scar can lie in the interior of a mesh or can touch the outer boundary of the mesh.
Merge Angle Lets you specify the angle that the software uses to determine the creation of edges within the new face. If the angle between two elements or between two element free faces exceeds the specified Merge Angle, the software creates a vertex at that location.
Advanced Options
Allow Inconsistent Element Normals Controls whether the software creates the face or faces if the source elements or mesh has inconsistent element normals. If you select this check box, the software creates the face. However, there may be issues with the polygon edges in the regions where the element normals are inconsistent. The resulting face may not be usable. If you clear this check box, the software does not create the face if the normals are inconsistent.
Duplicate Nodes Attached to Solid Controls whether the software creates duplicate nodes when it associates the mesh to the new face when the selected mesh is a 3D mesh or a 2D surface coat on an underlying 3D mesh.If you select this check box, the software creates duplicate nodes on the new face and stores these in the new 2D mesh recipe in the Simulation Navigator. If the face changes and the 2D mesh updates, the location of these nodes can change.Note: The software may not be able to honor feature edges that you select with the Add Feature Edges option if the mesh contains duplicate nodes. If you clear this check box, the Face from Mesh command creates nodes that are used by the solid elements of the source mesh. If you remesh the new face, the software considers these nodes as hard points and maintains their locations.
Target Body
Target Body Lets you control which polygon body becomes associated with the new face.Create New creates a new polygon body and then associates the new face to it.Add to Existing associates the new face to a selected polygon body.
Preview
Preview Edges Previews the location of polygon edges and vertices based on your current settings.
