Control user access to material libraries
You can store custom material definitions in external MatML XML library files. You can use customer defaults to control user access to these library files, as well as to the sample material library.
Choose Menu→File→Utilities→Customer Defaults.
Select Gateway→Materials/Mass.
Click the Locations tab.
The options on this page determine whether each material library is visible and/or available to be changed in the Assign Material, Manage Materials, and Material Library Manager dialog boxes. You can set these options separately for these material libraries:Site MatML Library — A material library that all users have access to. User MatML Library — A material library to which only certain users are given access.Default Material Library — The library of sample materials (physicalmateriallibrary.xml) included with this software. To grant users this level of control (for each library)Define these optionsLet users select and assign the material definitions from this library, and let them change the specified library. Select the Enable check box Select the Allow User Control check boxLet users select material definitions from this library, but do not let them change the library file. In the material list, the displayed material definitions are those specified in customer defaults.Select the Enable check boxClear the Allow User Control check boxPrevent users from viewing, selecting, or assigning material definitions from this library. For example, you might use these settings for the User MatML library if you wanted users to see only the Site MatML library.Clear the Enable check boxClear the Allow User Control check box
To specify access to a folder that contains several MatML library files, from the Site and User Material Library Format list, select Directory of MatML files. In the Manage Materials and Assign Material dialog boxes, the list of material definitions will include all definitions from all MatML files in the directory you specify for Site MatML Library and/or User MatML Library.
Specify the default folder locations for your Site MatML and/or User MatML libraries. If Allow User Control is selected, any user can override this default location in the Assign Material/Material List dialog box. Note: You can further control user access to these material libraries using the Windows file system attributes or security permissions on the folder where the library is located. If a user tries to edit a material definition in a library located in a folder to which the user has not been granted Write permission, the software does not allow the changes to be saved.
Click OK. You must restart the software for the changes to take effect.Note: In some situations, the materials dialog boxes may not reflect your changes to the customer defaults until you click the Reset button on the title bar of the dialog box.
