Bolt Pre-Load Constraint dialog box (Abaqus)

Type Pre-load constraint on 1D elementsConstrains a bolt defined with a beam (1D) element to its pre-loaded length. Pre-load constraint on 3D elementsConstrains a bolt defined with a solid (3D) element to its pre-loaded length
Model Objects (Pre-load constraint on 1D elements only)
Group Reference Lets you apply the constraint to a group.For more information, see Group Reference options.
Select Object Lets you select the geometry or elements on which to apply the constraint.Note: The geometry, elements, or group to which you apply the constraint should be the same as the geometry, elements, or group to which you applied the Bolt Pre-Load. This ensures that the same pre-tension node is associated with both the pre-load and the constraint.
Stacked Smart Selector Methods Opens the Smart Selector Methods dialog box where you can specify a progression of smart selection filters.For more information, see Smart Selector Methods dialog box.
Pre-Tension Section (Pre-load constraint on 3D elements only)
Region Lets you specify a Region that defines the surface inside the bolt that bisects the bolt. See Defining the pre-tension section for more information.Note: The Region to which you apply the constraint should be the same as theRegion to which you applied the Bolt Pre-Load. This ensures that the same pre-tension node is associated with both the pre-load and the constraint.
