Controlling element diagonals

The software tries to ensure that in a mapped mesh of triangular elements, the elements' diagonals (hypotenuse) point in a consistent direction across faces. If you need to change the direction of the diagonals in a selected mesh, you can edit the mesh and use the Flip Diagonals option in the 2D Mapped Mesh dialog box (Mesh Options group) to reverse the current direction of the diagonals.

Below, (A) shows an example of a triangular mapped mesh. The diagonals in the highlighted area are inconsistent with the diagonals in the rest of the mesh. (B) shows the mesh after the Flip Diagonals option was used on the highlighted face.
