Control the display of deformation for models with 2D shell elements
Click Apply at any time during the following procedures to view your current settings.
In the Post Processing Navigator, right-click a post view node with results that contain 2D shell elements, and choose Set Deformation.
Select the Deformation check box.
From the Deform by list, select one of the following:VectorDeforms the model display based on a vector component or magnitude, such as displacement or heat flux, and applies the deformations in the direction of that component or, in the case of magnitude, along the vector itself.ScalarDeforms the model display based on nodal scalar results, such as Pressure – Nodal, and applies the deformations along the shell normal direction.
(Optional) If you set Deform by to Vector, to specify that the deformation be applied in the shell normal direction, select the Deform Shell Elements by Normal Component check box.
To ensure that the color plot and deformations are synchronized when you step through them, select the Synchronize Color Display and Deformation check box.
From the Results and Component lists, select the results to display for the deformation.
To set a scale factor to use for the deformation, in the Scale box, type the scale factor. Set it as a percentage of the model size or an absolute size in model units.
(Optional) Transform deformations with respect to a node location. For more information, see Transform deformations with respect to a node location.
Click OK.
