Level crossing results
Use the Evaluate Level Crossing Results dialog box to calculate the Level Crossing Rate (LCR) for random results above a specified response level. Level crossing rate is an indication of cyclic loading and can be used to identify possible fatigue issues.
You can evaluate selected displacements, accelerations, stresses, strains, element forces, or shell stress resultants, depending on the available modes. You can evaluate level crossing results for the whole model or relative to a node or element.
Note:
When you created the dynamic solution, you should have created a Structural Output Request and specified the result types to evaluate. For more information, see Define Response Dynamics result types.
Level crossing results are real scalar or vector results of the level crossing rates at nodes or on elements. You can store the results in two different formats: node or node-on-element. The level crossing rates of the nodal response (such as displacement or acceleration) are stored in nodal format, while the level crossing rates of the elemental response (such as stress, element force, or shell stress resultant) are stored in node-on-element format.
The nodal level crossing results in a given direction (for example, acceleration in the X direction) are vector results. The magnitude is the level crossing value, and the direction shows the requested (nodal) direction in the coordinate system.
The elemental level crossing von Mises stress results are scalar results.
Results are in the nodal displacement coordinate system or the elemental coordinate system, depending on the type of output you select.
If the dynamic solution results file contains ply stress or strain modes, you can generate stress or strain contour results for each ply layer. The composite elements are evaluated with respect to the ply result coordinate system.
For more information, see Level Crossing Rate (LCR).
