Simcenter Nastran and MSC Nastran environments

The Simcenter Nastran and MSC Nastran environments let you build finite element models, define loading and solution options, and view results for the Nastran solver. When you work in the Simcenter Nastran or MSC Nastran environment, Nastran terminology appears in the user interface. For example, you can create elements, loads, boundary conditions, and solution options using Nastran bulk entry and parameter nomenclature. In the Nastran environments, because you work directly with Nastran elements, properties, and commands, accuracy and mapping issues that can occur during data translation are eliminated. The Nastran input file that you generate using this software is ready to solve.

Nastran version compatibility

For information on the Simcenter Nastran and MSC Nastran versions that are compatible with the Nastran environments in the current release, see Solver version support.

Supported file types

In Pre/Post, you can work with the following types of Nastran files:

  • Nastran input files (.dat)

  • Nastran ASCII format result files (.f06)

  • Nastran binary format result files (.op2)

Supported Nastran elements, properties, and commands

This software supports a wide variety of Nastran elements, physical properties, loads, and parameters. For more information, see:
