Creating a Simcenter Samcef superelement from an external source
You can create a Simcenter Samcef superelement by converting a superelement that is created by another solver:
Convert an ANSYS superelement from a .cdb file.
Convert a Nastran superelement (stiffness matrix, mass matrix, and load vector) defined in the .op2 and .op4 ASCII files.Note: Binary .op2 and .op4 files are not supported.
Convert a Nastran DMIG superelement. See also Creating a Simcenter Samcef superelement from a Nastran DMIG file.
Convert a PERMAS superelement.
The software converts the external superelement into a Simcenter Samcef one and generates the corresponding Samcef .sdb and .u18 files. The conversion process uses the Samcef .INT command.
To convert an external superelement:
Create an empty Simcenter Samcef FEM.
Define a Simcenter Samcef SIM with Superelement Creation as the specified solution type.
From the Superelement Type list, select Convert Superelement from Other Solver.
In the General page of the solution, select the External Superelement you want to convert.
Solve the model.
After the conversion, Pre/Post displays the retained nodes of the superelement.
Note:
No result is available after the conversion process.
Note:
You cannot recover a Samcef superelement that is the result of the conversion of an external superelement.
