Geometry idealization > Removing features from a model

Defeature geometry

  1. Choose Home tab→Geometry PreparationDefeature Geometry .

  2. In the scene toolbar choose the appropriate option from the Face Rule list to help you select the faces in the feature you want to remove. For information about these selection intent options, see Selection intent rules and options on the scene toolbar.

  3. In the graphics window, select the faces in the feature to remove. For example, if you selected Tangent Region Faces as the Face Rule, select a seed face for the feature to remove. Then select a face (or faces) as the outer limit of the feature. Click the middle mouse button to complete the face collection.

  4. In the Defeature Geometry dialog bar, click OK to complete the command.

  5. Click Cancel to close the Defeature Geometry dialog bar.

To edit the removed feature, open the Part Navigator in the Resource Bar and locate the Defeature Body node. Right-click the Defeature Body node and select the Edit Feature Parameters option to make any modifications.
