Linear static analysis
The linear static solution type is used to solve small strain/small displacement structural problems, where the loads do not vary with time and the material behavior is linear elastic. Linear static problems can include gaps and contact. The results of a linear static analysis are typically displacements, stresses, strains, forces, and so on. The loads in a linear static analysis can be:
Surface tractions such as applied forces and pressures.
Body forces such as weight and inertial forces.
Enforced (non-zero) displacements.
Thermally-induced strains.
Supported environments
Pre/Post supports the following linear statics environments:
Nastran - SOL 101 Linear Statics—Global ConstraintsUse this solution type when the same constraints apply to each subcase.
Nastran - SOL 101 Linear Statics—Subcase ConstraintsUse this solution type when the constraints differ between subcases.
Nastran - SOL 101 SuperelementFor more information, see Superelement analysis.
