Boundary conditions > Associating boundary conditions with a solution

Manage boundary conditions in multiple steps or subcases

  1. In the Simulation Navigator, right-click the solution and choose Step Manager or Subcase Manager (Nastran).

  2. In the Step Association Manager or Subcase Association Manager dialog box, from the Type list, select the boundary condition type, such as:LoadsConstraintsSimulation ObjectsThe types of boundary conditions available depend on the solver and solution type. Only boundary condition types that are stored in steps for this solution type are listed.

  3. (Optional) Filter the listed boundary conditions. In the Filter group, from the Select Type list, choose from:All shows all boundary conditions of the specified type that are appropriate for steps in the selected solution.Folders shows only boundary conditions folders. Selecting a folder associates all boundary conditions in the folder with the corresponding step.Specified boundary conditions. Choose from a list of available boundary conditions for the current step and solution. For example, if you have selected a linear statics solution and specified Loads as the type, you can choose from loads such as Force, Pressure, Torque, Bearing, and so on.You can type a string the Specify Wildcard field to filter available boundary conditions by name.Click the Filter button to apply the filter and update the table.

  4. (Optional) You can click Switch Rows and Columns to alternate between listing boundary condition for each step and listing steps for each boundary condition.

  5. Click cells within the table to add or remove boundary conditions from any listed step. Right-click a cell to quickly add or remove a specified boundary condition for all steps, or to add or remove all boundary conditions for a specified step.

  6. (Optional) Click Switch to Scaling View to apply a scale factor to a load in a step. For more information, see Scale loads using the Step/Subcase Manager.

  7. Click OK to accept all changes and close the dialog box.
