Combining triangular elements

Use Combine Triangles to combine two selected triangular elements into a single quadrilateral element. For example, you can use Combine Triangles to transition between coarse and fine meshes or to quickly modify a mesh in a local area.

Note:

When you combine triangular elements, the resulting quadrilateral inherits the label of the second triangular element you select.

Manually deleting unused nodes

When you combine triangular elements, the software does not automatically delete any unused nodes. Choose Nodes and Elements tab→Nodes group→Delete Node to manually delete these extra nodes before you solve your model.

Where do I find it?

  • Choose Nodes and Elements tab→Elements group→Combine Triangles .

  • Choose MenuEdit→Element→Combine Triangles.
