Enabling or disabling elements in subcases (Simcenter Samcef)

The Element Enable from Subcase and Element Disable from Subcase simulation objects let you activate or deactivate some elements or some gluing or contact conditions during an entire subcase.

The Element Enable from Subcase and Element Disable from Subcase simulation objects are available in the Simcenter Samcef environment with the following limitations.

  • For Structural or Axisymmetric and Other 2D Structural analyses with a Nonlinear Analysis solution type, you can select the following Simcenter Samcef structural elements:T8, T46, T47, T247 solidsT11, T25 multilayer solidsT15, T26 axisymmetric solidsT28, T29 shells and multilayer shells

  • For a Thermal analysis with a Heat Transfer solution type, you can select the following Simcenter Samcef thermal elements:T39, T103, T105, T106 solids and multilayer solidsT34, T35 axisymmetric solidsT34, T35 thermal membranes and multilayer membranesT223, T224 thermal shell membranes and multilayer shell membranes

Enabling or disabling a set of elements follows the same rules that apply to enabling or disabling contact or glue simulation objects. The enabling ramp effect and the disabling ramp effect apply. For more details on these effects, see Enabling or disabling contact and glue simulation objects in subcases (Simcenter Samcef).
