Multi-Layer Shell

Use the Multi-Layer Shell Uniform and Multi-Layer Shell Non-Uniform physical property table to define certain physical characteristics for 2D multi-layer shell elements in your model. This physical property table is available in Simcenter 3D Thermal/Flow, Simcenter 3D Electronic Systems Cooling, and Simcenter 3D Space Systems Thermal.

With multi-layer shell elements, you can model any broad thin geometry for which you want a detailed picture of the conduction through the geometry without using 3D solid elements. Multi-layer shells present a smaller conductance matrix than solid elements, yet provide more modeling options than single-layer thin shell elements.

Note:

When you define layers for the Multi-Layer Shell Non-Uniform physical property table, the first layer is the top layer.
