Create/Clone Stacked Selection Recipe dialog box
| Name | |
|---|---|
| Name | Sets a unique name for the selection recipe. If the selection recipe contains only a coordinate, point, or single-label strategy, this name also appears when you view information about the post-processing results, create a post-processing annotation, or create a graph across iterations. |
| Delete Source Recipe | Appears when you clone a selection recipe.Deletes the selection recipe being cloned. If you select this check box, the clone can use the same name as the original selection recipe. However, any boundary conditions or other entities that use the original selection recipe do not automatically use the clone, even if the name is the same. Any affected boundary conditions become asleep and will not be used when you solve the solution. To address this issue, you must manually edit the affected entities to use the clone or another selection mechanism instead.Caution: If you delete a selection recipe that is used by a mesh, that mesh is deleted. |

| Strategy | Appears when you create or clone a stacked selection recipe.Specifies the strategy or adapter to add to the selection recipe. When you create a new selection recipe, the following options are available:Bounding VolumeSelects all points; nodes; elements; element edges or faces; meshes; curves; polygon edges, faces, or bodies; or any combination of those entities within a defined area.AttributeSelects all points, curves, or polygon edges, faces, or bodies that have one or more particular attributes (such as the same name or color).Label RangeSelects a range of nodes or elements identified by their labels.CoordinateSelects a node that is near a particular coordinate.PointSelects a node that is near an existing point.Single LabelSelects a node that you manually specify.ProximitySelects all nodes or points that are near a particular point, mesh point, curve, or polygon edge or face. After you add one of these strategies to a selection recipe, the Strategy list typically displays other strategies or adapters that you can add to the selection recipe. The available options vary, depending on the entities selected by the preceding strategy. For example, if the strategy selects nodes, the Strategy list includes adapters that you can use with nodes, such as Related Curves, Related Edges, Related Elements, Related Faces, and Related Vertices. However, the Strategy list does not include any adapters if the preceding strategy is a bounding volume strategy that selects multiple types of entities (such as both nodes and elements). When you clone an existing selection recipe, the options that appear in the Strategy list vary, depending on the entities selected by the last strategy in the list. |
| Add | Appears when you create or clone a stacked selection recipe.Displays the appropriate dialog box, depending on the selection in the Strategy list:Bounding Volume Strategy dialog boxAttribute Strategy dialog boxLabel Range Strategy dialog boxCoordinate Strategy dialog boxPoint Strategy dialog boxSingle Label Strategy dialog boxProximity Strategy dialog boxAdapter Options dialog box |
| Definition | Displays a list of the strategies and adapters included in the stacked selection recipe.Strategy TypeThe strategy or adapter type (such as Bounding Volume or Related Nodes)Output EntityThe type of entity selected by the corresponding strategy or adapter (such as Node or Element)If the strategy selects multiple types of entities, this column displays Mixed.CountThe number of entities selected by the corresponding strategy or adapterNote: No count appears for a bounding volume that uses an arbitrary volume. The last row indicates the entity type and number of entities selected by the selection recipe, which might be different than the type or number associated with the preceding strategies or adapters. To edit an item in this list, right-click anywhere in the row and choose Edit. For information about the kinds of changes that you can make to a strategy, see Editing a selection recipe. To delete a strategy or adapter from this list, right-click anywhere in the row and choose Delete. You can delete a strategy or adapter only when you are creating a new selection recipe. In addition, you can delete only the last item in the list, or a contiguous group of strategies and adapters that includes the last item in the list. |
| Show Result | Highlights in the graphics window the entities selected by the selection recipe.Tip: To see interior entities, choose View tab→Visibility group→See-Thru All .When you click Show Result, all options in the Create Stacked Selection Recipe dialog box become inactive, and Undo Result appears. To stop highlighting the entities and activate the options in the dialog box so that you can change the selection recipe, click Undo Result . |
