Define a temperature load using a node ID table

The Node ID Table type lets you define a temperature load with a node ID table, which contains a list of node IDs and corresponding scale factors. For each node in the node ID table, the load magnitude is multiplied by the scale factor.

For more information, see Create a node ID table.

  1. Choose Home tab→Loads and Conditions group→Temperature Load .

  2. In the Temperature Load dialog box, select Node ID Table from the Type list.

  3. In the Magnitude group, define the temperature load magnitude in one of these ways:Select Expression to use a constant value or expression to define the magnitude. For more information, see the Expressions. Select Field to define a temperature magnitude. For more information, see Using fields and expressions to define boundary conditions.

  4. In the Scaling ID Table group, from the Specify Field list, select Table Constructor .

  5. Notice that in the Table Field dialog box Domain group, the Independent tab is selected. Note: The independent variable is set to unitless. The Data Points table has columns for the node ID and the dimensionless scale factor.

  6. In the Data Points group, click Import from File .

  7. Select the .csv file, and click OK. The node ID table is imported into the Data Points table. To populate the table correctly, the .csv file must have a column that lists the node IDs, plus another column that lists the scale factor to apply to the nodal temperature value.

  8. In the Table Field dialog box, click OK.

  9. In the Temperature Load dialog box, click OK.The load is created on the nodes specified in the node ID table.
