Seed Set dialog box
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Seed Point | Specifies the method for selecting seed points:Select from Model enables you to graphically select points on the model's surface or a cutting plane.Enter Coordinates enables you to enter seed point locations by XYZ coordinates.Nodes in Group enables you to specify a predefined group. All nodes in the group become seed point locations. |
| Select Nodal Location | This option is available only when Seed Point is set to Select from Model. When selected, limits selectable points to node locations.Choose a Pick method to select nodal locations on the exterior face or cut plane. |
| Select Exterior Point | This option is available only when Seed Point is set to Select from Model.Selects only seed points located on an exterior face of the model. |
| Select Point on Cut-Plane | This option is available only when Seed Point is set to Select from Model.Selects seed point locations on a specified cut plane. |
| Cut Plane | This option is available only when Select Point on Cut-Plane is selected.Defines the cut plane as a surface relative to the specified coordinate system's axes. |
| Slider | This option is available only when Select Point on Cut-Plane is selected.Specifies the location of the cutting plane relative to the size of the model. Drag the slider to interactively control the cutting plane location, or enter a real-number value in the text box above. |
| Pick | This option is available only when Select Nodal Location is selected.Determines the method for selecting nodal locations:Single — Creates a seed point at the selected nodal location. All on Face — Creates a seed point at each nodal location on the selected feature face. All on Edge — Creates a seed point at each nodal location on the selected feature edge.Sample on Face — Creates a seed set by sampling node locations on a face that are farther apart than the specified minimum distance.Sample on Edge — Creates a seed set by sampling node locations on an edge that are farther apart than the specified minimum distance. |
| Minimum Distance | This option is available only when Pick is set to Sample on Face or Sample on Edge.Specifies the minimum distances to maintain between any two seed point locations on a selected face or edge. |
| **X=****Y=**Z= | This option is available only when Seed Point is set to Enter Coordinates.Specifies the XYZ coordinates of the seed point location. |
| Group | This option is available only when Seed Point is set to Nodes in Group.Specifies a predefined group containing nodes. Node locations in the group are stored as seed points. |
| Generate streamlines | Generates streamlines showing the paths of the currently selected seed points. If Seed Point is set to Select from Model, you can select Auto to generate streamlines automatically. |
| Add seed point to list | Adds the current seed point(s) to the seed point list.If Seed Point is set to Select from Model, you can select Auto to add seed points to the list automatically. |
| Seed Set Name | Specifies the name for the seed set. |
| Seed point list | Lists seed points included in the current seed set. |
| Remove | Removes selected seed points from the seed set. |
| Select All | Selects all seed points in the seed set. |
| Deselect All | Deselects all seed points in the seed set. |
| Extraction Parameters | |
| Extract | Specifies the direction for generating streamlines. Choose from the following:Downstream extracts streamlines in the positive direction of the velocity vector from the seed point.Upstream extracts streamlines in the negative direction of the velocity vector from the seed point.Entire Streamline extracts streamlines in both directions from the seed point. This option is useful when specifying seed points that lie on an interior plane. |
| Maximum Time Elapsed | Specifies the maximum elapsed time (as the sum of the Δt values calculated for each step). If the software cannot generate the complete streamline within the maximum elapsed time, you may want to increase this number. |
| Maximum Number of Steps | Specifies the maximum number of steps the software calculates. If the software cannot generate the complete streamline within the maximum allowed steps, you may want to increase this number. |
| Limit Stepsize | Limits the allowable step size to the specified value. The smaller the step size limit, the more accurate the streamline, but the more system resources are used in performing the calculations. |
| Attempt Restart in Disjoint Mesh | Controls whether the streamline is continuous across the interface between adjacent fluid meshes that share a common boundary. When this option is selected, the software creates a continuous streamline across the discontinuous meshes. However, restarting streamlines across discontinuous meshes can negatively impact the display performance. You should use caution when selecting this option. Note: You must select the Attempt Restart in Disjoint Mesh option before you select any seed points. For more information, see Joining fluid meshes. The following graphic shows an example of a streamlines display created on a model that contains a disjoint fluid mesh.
