Model and Load Pre-processing > Extract order cut data
Extracting order cut data
You can extract order cut loads from external data in waterfall of frequency spectra for use as excitations in structural and vibro-acoustic response solutions or for plotting the processed order cut data.
Typically, you use a limited number of critical order frequencies and RPMs from rotating machinery from applications, such as electromagnetic, multi-body, kinetic, and so on, to evaluate acoustic responses. When you extract only a range of orders that dominate the loading of the machine and influence the response, an analysis with the extracted data will consume less time.
Process overview
To extract order cut data with Model and Load Pre-processing:
Specify an input file to process the external result data.
Execute the Waterfall of Frequency to Order Cut data processing operation to extract engine orders from a waterfall of frequency spectra.Note: When the input loading is in the time domain, you must first use the Time to Waterfall of Time, Time Signal Processing, or both commands to convert the input loading from the time to frequency domain.
Execute the Model and Load Pre-processing pre-solver that writes out files in different formats, including a Simcenter HDF5 file.
Visualize the results with a preconfigured post-processing view before extracting the motions stored in the Simcenter HDF5 file and using them in a Simcenter Nastran solution.Note: The HDF5 file is supported by SOL 108 and SOL 111 solutions.
