Model and mesh validation > Evaluating element quality
Correcting 2D element quality failures
After you use the Element Quality command to check your model for 2D elements that violate specified quality threshold values, you can use the Correct Element Quality dialog box to fix the following element quality issues.
You can use the Correct Element Quality dialog box to correct quality failures in 2D elements in a FEM file or in 2D elements created at the assembly level in an assembly FEM file.
Supported element quality criteria
You can use the Correct Element Quality dialog box to have the software move nodes in 2D elements to fix the following quality issues:
Aspect ratio
Jacobian ratio
Minimum and maximum element edge size
Minimum and maximum interior angles for quadrilateral and triangular elements
Skew angle
Taper
Using the Correct Element Quality dialog box
The Correct Element Quality dialog box lists:
The names of the quality checks that fail the specified Error Limit values.
The specified Error Limit value for each quality check.
The number of elements that fail each quality check.

To correct the element quality, select the check box next to one or more quality checks and click the Correct Failed Elements button. The software then tries to correct the specified quality issue. You can also use the All On and All Off buttons to select or clear all check boxes. The software then moves nodes on the appropriate elements to correct the quality failures.
