Define a thermoset curing material (Simcenter Samcef Thermal)

You can create materials only if the Allow Local Materials customer default is selected.

  1. Make the FEM the work part and displayed part.

  2. Choose Home tab→Properties group→Assign Materials or Manage Materials.

  3. In the Material List group, select Local Materials.

  4. In the New Material group, from the Type list, select Curing.

  5. Click Create Material .

  6. In the materials dialog box, from the Property View list, select Samcef Curing Thermal.

  7. In the Name - Description box, type a name for the material.

  8. In the Properties group, in the Mass Density (RHO) box, enter 1100 in units of kg/m^3.

  9. On the Thermal page, enter the following values:In the Properties group, from the list, select Orthotropic and enter the following values: In the Thermal Conductivity (K) box, type 3 in units of W/m-dK.In the Thermal Conductivity (K2) box, type .5 in units of W/m-dK.In the Thermal Conductivity (K3) box, type .5 in units of W/m-dK.In the Specific Heat (CP) box, enter 950 in units of J/kg-dK.

  10. On the Curing Reaction page, in the Basic Properties group, enter the following values:In the Curing Heat (hcur) box, enter a value of 400e3 in units of J/kg.In the Matrix Mass Fraction (mmf) box, enter a value of 0.55.

  11. In the Model Properties group, enter the following values:From the Cure Kinetic Model list, select Samcef.In the Frequency of Reaction (freq) box, enter 30000 in units of Hz.In the Frequency of Reaction (freq2) box, enter 60000 in units of Hz.In the Activation Energy (ener) (per Mole) box, enter 75000 in units of J.In the Activation Energy (ener2) (per Mole) box, enter 60000 in units of J.In the Reaction Order (nord) box, enter .45.In the Reaction Order (nord2) box, enter 1.2.In the Reaction Order (nord3) box, enter 1.8.

  12. In the Glass Transition Temperature (tgla) group, enter the following values:In the Uncured Resin (tg0) box, enter -10 in units of C.In the Fully Cured Resin (tg1) box, enter 170 in units of C.In the Lambda coefficient box, enter 0.4.

  13. In the Effect of Vitrification group, from the Model list, select Glass Transition (Tg) Based and enter the following values:In the Diffusion Coefficient (bdif) box, enter 0.08.In the Diffusion Coefficient (bdif2) box, enter 0.0005.In the Diffusion Coefficient (bdif3) box, enter 0.025.

  14. Click OK.
