Report commands
A report command extracts data from the part files or results and places it a report. Examples of report commands include:
| Command | Purpose |
|---|---|
| RW_MaterialsSummary | Lists materials used in the solution |
| RW_ReportTitle | Provides report title |
| RW_Images | Request that the user create a result contour plot image |
| RW_ModelSummary | Lists model summary information |
The Default library of the Report Command Manager provides a sample set of commands and any supporting NX Open programs. You can modify them or use them to develop your own commands to gather information in a format and layout that meets your company requirements. Many commands have arguments that enable the user to filter for specific data, such as material or mesh types.
You can also look for examples online at the Simcenter 3D community sharing site. For more information, see Get help or find more example commands.
Report commands and libraries
Four command libraries are available: Default, Site, Vendor, and User. Identical commands can exist in the same library or in different libraries.
For more information, see Report command libraries.
Registering report commands using the Report Command Manager
You must register commands using the Report Command Manager.
A command definition consists of the following:
Name (keyword), location, and language (required)
User input to be added before or after the NX Open command runs
Arguments
Image settings (size, rotation)
A command without an NX Open command can have the following associated with it:
Name (keyword)
User input
Image settings (size, rotation)
User input
You can add user input to commands, such as text or images. The user input can be provided before and/or after the command runs. When a report item is created and displayed in the Report node of the Simulation Navigator, its children items show the user input required.
Example:
Before running the command
A command requests user input that describes a summary of materials before the command outputs the summary.
A command asks the user to capture an image before the command runs.
After running an NX Open program that captures an image
- The user input is after an NX Open captures the image to let the user comment on it.
