Rigid Surface Definition dialog box (Simcenter Samcef)
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | Defines the modeling object name. |
| Label | Specifies a unique numerical identifier for the modeling object. |
| Surface Definition | Selects a surface: Sphere. Infinite Cylinder. Infinite Plane. Cylinder with Flat Ends. Cylinder with Spherical Ends. Parallelepiped with Fillets. |
The following tables describe the surfaces and their dimension parameters.
Sphere
| Parameters | Description |
|---|---|
| Radius | Defines the radius (1) of the sphere. |
Infinite Cylinder
| Parameters | Description |
|---|---|
| Radius | Defines the radius (1) of the cylinder. |
Infinite Plane
| Parameters | Description |
|---|---|
| Position | Defines the offset of the plane along its normal direction. |
Cylinder with Flat Ends
| Parameters | Description |
|---|---|
| Height | Defines the height (1) of the cylinder. |
| Radius (1) | Defines the radius (2) of the cylinder. |
| Radius (2) | Defines the fillet radius (3) of the cylinder. |
Cylinder with Spherical Ends
| Parameters | Description |
|---|---|
| Height | Defines the height (1) of the cylinder. |
| Radius | Defines the radius (2) of the cylinder. |
Parallelepiped with Fillets
| Parameters | Description |
|---|---|
| Note: The dimensions to be defined represent half of the dimensions of the complete parallelepiped box. Therefore, the figure above represents 1/8th of the complete box. | |
| Length | Defines the length (1). |
| Width | Defines the width (2). |
| Height | Defines the height (3). |
| Radius (1) | Defines the radius (4) between the width and the length of the box. |
| Radius (2) | Defines the radius (5) between the height and the width of the box. |
Surface orientation, local coordinate system and dimensions
In the Rigid Contact dialog box, you can orient the rigid surface with a local coordinate system .
When you define the dimensions of the surface, parameters match this local coordinate system:
| Parameters | Description |
|---|---|
| For the infinite plane | The plane normal direction matches the Z local direction. |
| For all the cylinders | The main axis of the cylinders matches the Z local direction. Therefore, the height parameter defines the cylinder size along this axis. |
| For the parallelepiped box | For the parallelepiped box, the Length parameter matches the box's size in the X local direction, the Width parameter matches the box's size in the Y local direction, and the Height parameter matches the box's size in the Z local direction. |
Generating a display for the analytical surface
| Parameters | Description |
|---|---|
| Generate Analytical Surface Display | Generates a display for the analytical surface.Clear the check box if you do not want to generate the display for the analytical surface. For more information, see Display of the analytical surface of a Rigid Analytical Simcenter Samcef contact in post-processing. |
