Define a table field with complex dependent variables
When you create a table field using the Table Field dialog box, you can define dependent variables as complex if the dependent domain represents a scalar or vector quantity.
On the Independent Domain page, from the Independent list, select the independent domain.
On the Dependent Domain page, from the Dependent list, select a dependent domain that represents a scalar quantity like pressure or a vector quantity like force. On the Definition page, in the data points table, column headings appear and indicate how the data you import or define is interpreted by the software. For example, suppose you select Cartesian for the independent domain and Pressure for the dependent domain, the column headings x, y, z, and pressure appear.
Right-click the column heading for a dependent variable and choose Complex.Columns for the real and imaginary parts of the dependent variable appear. For example, if you selected Pressure as the dependent domain, the column headings pressure (Real) and pressure (Imaginary) appear.
(Optional) To switch to magnitude and phase format, right-click either of the column headings for the real and imaginary parts of the dependent variable and choose Display Magnitude/Phase.Columns for the magnitude and phase of the dependent variable appear. For example, if you selected Pressure as the dependent domain, right-click either the pressure (Real) or pressure (Imaginary) column heading and choose Display Magnitude/Phase. The column headings pressure (Magnitude) and pressure (Phase) appear.
Use one of the following options to define the complex tabular data:To import the data from a text file, click Import from Text file .To edit or create the data in an external spreadsheet application, click Edit table in spreadsheet .To enter tabular data directly, click a cell and type the data in the table. You can use the Tab and Enter keys to move between cells in the table or to create a new row.Press Tab to move your cursor to the next cell in the current row. If your cursor is in the last cell of a row, press Tab to create a new row.Press Enter to move your cursor to the next cell in the current column. If your cursor is in the last cell of a column, press Enter to create a new column.
