Plot order-cut curves
This example shows you how to plot order-cut curves from waterfall data at an acoustic node using two methods:
Start with the Function Plots scenario, where you extract data from a 2.5D color map of waterfall data.
Start with the manually entered order number scenario, where you directly extract data from a data source. To use this method, you must know the orders you need for your analysis.
The model is a solved model containing acoustic forces.
Extract order-cut curves from a 2.5D color map
Choose Results tab→Layout group→Upper and Lower .
From the Scenario Based Data-Visualization Navigator, in the Data Sources group, select the data source you want to plot.
In the Scenarios tree, expand the General node, if necessary.
Right-click Function Plots and choose Plot.
Select a viewport. The plot appears in the viewport you selected.Data visualization color mapThe Scenario Based Data-Visualization Navigator displays values specific to the selected data source under the active viewport node. In this example, this node simulates the microphone location at a driver's or passenger's ear in a vehicle.DOF — Scalar****Subcase — DS1****Variable (Response Functions)—Pressure [PRESSURE]
To better visualize orders, right-click the title of the pressure scale legend of the color map and choose Type→dB.Data visualization color map, dB type
To visualize order lines, right-click the blank area below the pressure scale, and choose Probing Mode→Order. One order line is displayed.Data visualization color map with order
(Optional) To visualize a different order line, you can:Hover over the help line and drag the line clockwise or counter-clockwise until it snaps to a new order line.Double-click the probing text (the number of the order line) and in the Probing Options dialog box, click the Positioning tab, select an appropriate Order Value and Snap to Step value, and click Go.
Repeat step 8 until you find the order line you want to use for an order-cut curve plot, and then click OK to close the Probing Options dialog box.
Right-click anywhere in the active viewport and choose Create Related Post Scenario→Order-Cut Analysis→Order-Cut Analysis, and select a viewport to plot the order-cut curve.
(Optional) Repeat step 8.The order-cut curve plot updates automatically because the viewports are in sync.
(Optional) To save the layout, see Manage layout states.
Create order-cut curves from manually entered order number
With a solved model containing acoustic forces open in the graphics window, choose Results tab→Layout group→Upper and Lower .
From the Scenario Based Data-Visualization Navigator, in the Data Sources group, select the data source you want to plot.
In the Scenarios tree, expand the NVH node, if necessary.
Right-click Waterfall to Order-Cut and choose Plot.
