Select DOFs dialog box

The name of the dialog box depends on the command you use to select the DOF sets:

  • Select Candidate Sensor DOFs

  • Select Required/Initial Sensor DOFs

  • Select Sensor Exciter DOFs

  • Select Candidate Exciter DOFs

Select DOF Set
Displays a list of all DOF sets.
Edit DOF Set Opens the DOF Set dialog box to let you modify the selected DOF set.
Create New DOF Set Opens the DOF Set dialog box to let you create a new DOF set.
Select Nodes
Select Node Lets you select nodes in the graphics window to include in the DOF set.To remove nodes, hold Shift while you select the node you want to remove.
Node Labels Adds nodes to the selection using labels.Use a space or comma to separate your entries.Use a colon or a dash to add a range of node labels. For example, enter 1:10 or 1-10 to add all the node labels from 1 to 10.Use colons to add an incremented range of node labels. For example, enter:1:9:2 to add node labels 1, 3, 5, 7, 9.1:10:2 to add node labels 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 10.10:1:-2 to add node labels 10, 8, 6, 4, 2, 1.Press enter or click Select to add your entries. To edit your selection, click Edit Node Selection .
Node ID list Lists the selected nodes. For each node, the list displays the ID and the specified DOFs' status.
DOF1, DOF2, DOF3, Normal DOF Displays the DOF status of each selected node.Indicates that the selected DOF is active.Indicates that the selected DOF is inactive. The following commands are available when you right-click in one or more selected rows:Set Translational DOFsActivates all three translational DOFs for the selected nodes.Set DOF1Activates the X translational DOF for the selected nodes.Set DOF2Activates the Y translational DOF for the selected nodes.Set DOF3Activates the Z translational DOF for the selected nodes.Set Normal DOFActivates a single DOF in the face normal direction for the selected nodes.Clear All DOFsDisables all DOFs for the selected nodes.
Select All Lets you select all nodes in the node ID list in one operation.
Deselect All Lets you deselect all nodes in the node ID list in one operation.
Conflict Resolution
Apply From DOF Set Selects the DOFs defined in the DOF set when the DOF set and selected nodes contain conflicting DOFs.
Apply From Selected Nodes Selects the DOFs defined with the nodal selection when the DOF set and selected nodes contain conflicting DOFs.For example, you select a DOF set containing 1500 DOFs on 500 nodes and also select two nodes in the graphics window that are included in the DOF set. One node uses a normal DOF and the other use all three translational DOFs defined, therefore, the selected nodes are in conflict. Their DOFs the software uses to define the resulting (1500 - 6)+4 = 1498 DOFs.
Preview
Preview Displays the DOF orientations in the local and normal CSYS, along with node IDs, for all nodes in the node ID list and the DOF set.If the Preview check box is cleared, only the node ID and DOF for each selected row in the node ID list is displayed.
