Sensor and exciter DOF selection
To locate the optimal placement of sensors and exciters for modal testing, you define the candidate, required or initial, and the sensor degree of freedom (DOF) sets.
The solver computes optimal sensor and exciter DOFs based on DOF selections you specify. It includes an existing or new DOF set, a selection of nodes with specified DOF direction, or a combination of both.
When the DOF set and selected nodes contain conflicting nodes, you can specify which DOFs to use from the DOF set or the selected nodes.
Sensor selection
You use sensor selection commands to define candidate and required or initial sensor DOF sets that the software uses to identify the optimal sensors. The Min-MAC algorithm uses the required DOFs and the MODMAC algorithm uses optional, initial sensor DOFs.
Exciter selection
You use exciter selection commands to define sensor and candidate DOF sets that the software uses to identify the optimal exciters. It is recommended to select exciter candidates from the sensor DOFs. The normal mode indicator function (NMIF) and driving point residue (DPR) algorithms adopt all the sensor DOFs as candidates when the exciter candidates are not defined. You can also manually remove less suitable exciter locations directly from the DPR matrix plot using theRemove from Exciter Candidates command.
Copying sensor and exciter DOFs
You can reuse existing sensor and exciter DOF selections as well as sensor and exciter configurations, when you select the DOFs using the Initialize from command. This command copies the DOFs and selection settings from the existing sensor and exciter DOF selections.
