Superposition Event dialog box — FE Results tab

Tip:

In the tab name, the number in parentheses identifies the number of subcases, defined in the selected data sources, with an active status.

Data Sources
Data Sources list Lists the data sources that you add to create the load event. Each data source file contains finite element results for one or more subcases. You can directly select a result file, or select a solution in the current Simulation file to retrieve its results. For each data source, the list displays the corresponding file or solution name, source, type, label, and unit system. When you select a data source from the list, the software displays its detailed information in the Data Source Details group and lists its subcases in the Subcases group. The subcases are listed in the Connection tab and are ordered first by data sources following their loading index.
Add Data Sources Lets you add one or more finite element result files to the data sources list.
Remove Data Sources from the list Removes the selected data sources from the data sources list.
Information on Data Sources Opens an information window to display detailed information on the selected data sources.
Select Solution Expands the Options group that lets you filter the available solutions in the Simulation file, and select one to retrieve its finite element results.
Options
Available when you click Select Solution .
Filter
The filters support wildcards. The default wildcard of * displays all entries in the list.
Filter by Name Sets the name of the solution to use as the filter criterion.
Filter by Type Sets the type or of the solution to use as the filter criterion.
Filter by Solve Specifies the solve status of the solution to use as the filter criterion. All lists all the available solutions, and Yes and No list the solved solutions and the unsolved ones, respectively.
Solution list Lists the solutions of the structural analysis type. For more information on supported solution types, refer to Supported solution types for load events.Displays the solutions name and type, and indicates if the solutions are solved. To add selected solutions to the data sources list:Click Add to Data Sources .Double-click the solutions.Right-click them and choose Add to Data Sources.
Data Source Details
Displays detailed information of the data source you select from the Data Source group.
File directory / solution name Displays the name and directory of the selected finite element result file, or the name of the selected solution. To replace the selected data source:Click Replace Data Source to replace the selected data source with a new finite element result file.If the selected data source is a file, to replace it with a solution, click Replace Data Source . After you select the solution from the solution list to replace, right-click and choose Replace Data Source, or click Replace Data Source .If the selected data source is a solution, to replace it with another solution, select a new solution from the drop-down list. When you replace a data source, instead of adding a new one in the Data Source group, the software preserves all the values you set on the Static Load, Pre-stress, and Connections tabs. After you replace a data source, the software re-matches the load histories and subcases according to the re-matching rule, which you select from the After Input Change Re-match Load Histories and Subcases by list in the Connections tab.
Data Source Label Sets a label for the data source. The data source label appears in the data source table in the Data Source group.
Type Displays the data source file type. The supported file types are Simcenter Nastran (.op2), I-deas (.unv), Simcenter Samcef (.des),Abaqus (.odb), and ANSYS (.rst).
Unit System Displays the unit system that is defined in the finite element results file. If the unit system is not defined in the selected results file, it displays Not Found. If the unit system is not defined in the corresponding results of the selected solution, the software overwrites the unit system with the one specified in the Units group of the Results File dialog box. From the Unit System list, you can select a unit system that overwrites the one specified in the results file.
Subcases
Subcase list Lists the existing subcases in the selected data source. For each subcase, the list displays the corresponding attributes, such as the active status and name.To change the active status of subcases, select one or more from the list, right-click, and choose Activate or Deactivate. Only the active subcases are listed under the Static Loads, Pre-stress, and Connection tabs.
Unit Loads
Lets you define the unit loads to be assigned to each pair of load history and subcase in the matching results list of the Connections tab. For example, if the load history of a pair is in N, and you set the force dimention to 2 mN in this group, the software scales the stresses/strains for the corresponding subcase by a factor of 1/0.002 = 500 and multiplies the scaled stresses/strains by the magnitude of the matching load histories. For each of the following dimensions, you can define the unit load as a scalar value and a translational or rotational unit in either metric or English system:Force / MomentPressure (translational only)Length / AngleVelocity / Angular VelocityAcceleration / Angular AccelerationThe default unit loads are retrieved from the Customer Defaults dialog box.
