Define Radiation

  1. Select one of two Radiation types based on the model's geometry. Depending on the type you select, different options are available in the dialog box. See Radiation dialog box (Thermal/SST/ESC/Multiphysics) for more information. The two types have different selection procedures:For an All Radiation type, you do not need to select the model. The solver detects enclosures automatically and treats them separately. For an Enclosure Radiation type, specify an enclosure by selecting a set of model objects that you wish to define as a complete enclosure.Click Select Object in the Region Radiating from Top Side group, and select the polygon faces, edges, curves, points, or mesh points that radiate from the top surface.Click Select Object in the Region Radiating from Bottom Side group, and select the polygon faces that radiate from the bottom side.Note: Polygon edges, curves, points and mesh points always radiate from the top side. So also do polygon faces of bodies meshed with 3D elements. Polygon faces meshed with 2D elements may radiate from the top side or bottom side.

  2. Select Include Radiative Environment if you need to model any radiative exchange between the radiating surfaces and the environment.

  3. Select a calculation method: Hemicube Rendering, Deterministic, or Monte Carlo. If you select Hemicube Rendering or Deterministic, you can change the default values for different options that control accuracy of shadowing. If you select Monte Carlo, you must create a Monte Carlo Settings modeling object. See Monte Carlo Settings for more information.
