3. Set the fan parameters and rotation axis
When creating a Fan Noise load, each fan blade is automatically segmented into rectangular strips, or segments, for which an acoustic source is created at the center of gravity of each strip. Each fan blade is segmented as a function of the input fan blade geometry, fan rotational frequency, and the speed of sound. The segment size is smaller than the acoustic wavelength to create an accurate acoustic load.
You specify the fan rotation axis coordinate system coincident with the fan center of rotation. A fan noise source rotates around the Z-axis of the specified axis system from X to Y (right-hand rule). For more information, see Fan Segmentation dialog box.
In the Simulation Navigator, right-click Model and Load Pre-Processing and choose Add Operation→Fan Noise Segmentation. In the Fan Segmentation dialog box, set the Maximum Computation Frequency and Speed of Sound.
On the Fan Rotation Axis tab, set the CSYS of the fan rotation. Specify CSYS .Set the center of fan rotation to be coincident with the CSYS Z-axis, with the fan rotation from X- to Y-axis (positive right-hand rule).
Click OK to close the dialog box.
