Set up a Fourier axisymmetric 2D display

Note:

Available for Simcenter 3D Multiphysics Fourier axisymmetric results.

Setting up the Fourier axisymmetric results display is available when you set the color display to contour plot.

Show the results at a revolve angle on the original 2D section

The software uses the harmonic indices to calculate the values at the revolve angles.

  1. In the Post Processing Navigator, right-click the post view and choose Set Result.

  2. In the Edit Result dialog box, click Set Symmetric Results.

  3. In the dialog box, from the Axis Of Rotation list, select the desired axis about which the results rotate.

  4. From the Display list, select Original 2D model.

  5. From the Result Values list, select At Revolve Angle.

  6. In the Revolve Angle box, type a revolve angle.

  7. Click Apply to render the 2D view with the current settings. The dialog box remains open so you can continue to adjust the display.

  8. Click OK to render the view and return to the Edit Result dialog box to further refine your results.

Envelope the circumference of the original 2D section

Envelope around all or part of the circumference of the original 2D section, looking for values, such as maximum, minimum, and average.

  1. In the Post Processing Navigator, right-click the post view and choose Set Result.

  2. In the Edit Result dialog box, click Set Symmetric Results.

  3. In the dialog box, from the Axis of Rotation list, select the desired axis.

  4. From the Display list, select Original 2D model.

  5. From the Result Values list, select Envelope Across Circumference,

  6. From the Envelope Value list, select the value for which you want to search.

  7. In the Start Revolve Angle and End Revolve Angle boxes, type values in degrees for the start and end angles to display.Example: Type 0 in Start Revolve Angle and 360 in End Revolve Angle to render the full 3D virtual solid.Type 0 in the Start Revolve Angle and 270 in End Revolve Angle to render the axisymmetric model with a 90-degree cutaway.

  8. In the Number Of Sections box, enter an integer to define the number of radial sections to display. A larger number of sections results in a finer display but requires more resources to render.

  9. Click Apply to render the 3D virtual solid view with the current settings. The dialog box remains open so you can continue to adjust the display.

  10. Click OK to render the virtual solid and return to the Edit Result dialog box to further refine your results.
