Creating a transient event

Using the Transient Event command, you create a transient load event that lets you manage the stress or strain time history that you imported from a transient solution. Create a transient event includes:

  • Importing the transient stress or strain results from a finite element result file, or selecting a solved solution in the current Simulation file to retrieve the transient results.

  • Managing the list the transient subcases and specify the time steps for creating the transient load event.

  • Optionally assigning a temperature source load to the transient load event.

You can use the transient load event for complex geometrical or material non-linearities that cannot be approximated by linear superposition. The finite element solver calculates the stresses/strains for each time step. For example, you can choose to create a transient load event for rotating components, such as rims, where each load step may correspond to the rotation of the component by 360°/n degrees. In this case, a full rotation corresponds to the transient series of these rotational steps.
