Samcef solver results files (Simcenter Samcef)
To import Simcenter Samcef results, the following files are required:
The .des contains, for each result, a description of the result and a link to its related values in the .fac file.
The .fac file contains all numerical values for all results.
The .sdb file is the Simcenter Samcef database, and contains the model and additional information necessary for post-processing the results using this software.
Importing results without the Simcenter Samcef database
If the Simcenter Samcef .sdb database is missing during the import process, information that is relevant to the model and its links with the results data is missing. Therefore, significant restrictions are applied to the post-processing of the loaded results.
| Missing information: | Consequence: |
|---|---|
| No units system. | Post-processing will not convert imported results to the model units if the Infer option of the Results File dialog box is selected. However, you can impose User Defined units in which the results are imported. For more information, see Specifying units when importing Samcef results (Simcenter Samcef). |
| No material orientation. | Post-processing will not properly display tensor or vector components. However, computed scalar criteria such as Von Mises criteria is still valid. |
| No link between results and composite layers. | Post-processing will not import composite results. |
| No Samcef elements types definition. | Post-processing will not group elements by type in the Post Processing Navigator to enhance visibility of results. For more information, see Controlling the visibility of Simcenter Samcef results. |
| The load case or subcase or timestep definitions. | When post-processing sorts results by load cases or timesteps, the real load case number or time values will not be displayed. Only the generic Samcef reference code will be used. |
