Curing of thermoset composites (Simcenter Samcef)

You can perform a complete solution for the curing analysis of thermoset composites by solving a thermal model and a mechanical model.

Solving the thermal model workflow

You create a thermal model to compute the temperature, degree of cure, and glass transition temperature as a function of time:

  1. You define the curing material.

  2. You apply constraints, loads, and boundary conditions.

  3. You solve the transient Heat Transfer analysis.

Solving the mechanical model workflow

In your mechanical model:

  1. You recover the Temperature, Degree of Cure, and the Glass Transition Temperature from the thermal analysis to apply them on the structural mesh: If the structural mesh is different from the thermal one, you must first solve a Mapping solution to map the thermal results to the structural mesh. For more details on the Mapping workflow, see Mapping workflow (Simcenter Samcef).Then you create a new solution and chain it with the Mapping one.If the thermal mesh is the same as the structural one, you directly create a Chaining solution with the thermal one. For more details on the Chaining workflow, see Chaining solutions (Simcenter Samcef).

  2. In that solution, you add the structural curing material, and you define the loads and boundary conditions.

  3. You solve the structural model.
