Editing modes or functions in mode sets and FRF sets
After you replace a component FEM with a mode set or FRF set, you can edit the individual modes in a mode set or functions in an FRF set. You can:
Make selected modes or FRFs active or inactive.
Apply modal damping to modes.
(For Nastran (*.op2) files) Scale the modal viscous or structural damping values. For more information, see Viscous and structural damping values in mode sets (Simcenter Nastran).
For example, you can edit modes or FRFs to deactivate spurious modes or FRFs, such as from test data. You can also simulate the effects of a stiffer structure by removing very compliant modes or FRFs.
Using the Edit Modes dialog box
In the Edit Modes dialog box:
To deactivate a mode or FRF, clear the Active check box . To make the mode or FRF Active, select the check box .You can also return to the original value by right-clicking the cell or cells and choosing Reset to Original Value.Tip: You can select multiple cells using the Shift or Ctrl keys.
To edit the Modal Damping (%) value of a mode, double-click a cell and type the desired value. To revert to the original value, right-click the cell and choose Reset to Original Value.Tip: You can select multiple cells using the Shift or Ctrl keys.
For Nastran (*.op2) files, to scale the Equivalent Modal Viscous Damping (%) or Equivalent Modal Structural Damping (%) values, in either the Scale Factor (Modal Viscous Damping) or Scale Factor (Modal Structural Damping) cell, double-click the cell and type the desired value. To revert to the original value, right-click the cell and choose Reset to Original Value.Tip: You can select multiple cells using the Shift or Ctrl keys.
Applying changes after you edit modes or FRFs
After you edit modes or FRFs:
To apply modifications that you make to the set, choose Home tab→Context group→Update.
To remove your changes and reset to the original mode or FRF data, choose Update from File.
