Identify results for selected nodes or elements

Note:

  • For Multiphysics cyclic symmetric results, you can identify results in any displayed sector, and the identified results include the sector ID.For more information about displaying sectors, see Set up a cyclic symmetric display.

  • For Multiphysics Fourier axisymmetric results, you can identify results for any of the displayed 3D model, and the identified results include the theta value. For more information about displaying the 3D model, see Set up an axisymmetric 3D display.

  • Use the MenuPreferencesPost ProcessingIdentify command to set the numeric format of the results values.

  1. Choose Results tab→Tools group→Identify Results .

  2. From the results list, select Pick from Model.

  3. Specify how you want results and IDs to be displayed in the graphics window by selecting from the Mark Selection list:To display results values for each selected entity, select Mark Result. To display the IDs of selected entities, select Mark IDs.Select No Marks if you do not want to mark entities in the graphics window.

  4. Select nodes or elements in the graphics window. Use the options in the Pick list to select single or multiple entities. You can select multiple elements by dragging a selection box, selecting a feature or polygon face or edge, or selecting an entire mesh. For a description of each selection method, see Identify dialog box. If your model includes multiple meshes of different element types, you can choose 0D, 1D, 2D, or 3D from the Dimension list to further limit your selection to elements of that type. For all selected nodes or elements, the Selection text box lists the maximum, minimum, numerical sum, and averaged values. Selected nodes or elements are marked in the graphics window as specified in step 3.

  5. (Optional) If you set Pick to Mesh, Feature Face, Feature Edge, Polygon Face, or Polygon Edge, select the Weighted Average check box to display weighted averages. For more information, see Displaying weighted average.

  6. Continue to select entities using any of the available methods. Entities are added or removed from your list based on the current Boolean Operation.Tip: To remove marks in the graphics window without clearing your selection, click Clear Highlights at any time.To remove all selected entities from the list, click Clear Selection .

  7. Click Close.Caution: Closing the Identify dialog box clears all selections and marks in the graphics window. To retain your data, export the selection to a file or spreadsheet before you close the dialog box.
