Flow Boundary Condition dialog box – Flap options
| Name | |
|---|---|
| Name | Sets a name for the simulation object.Description opens an editor that lets you type a description for the boundary condition. |
| Destination Folder | |
| Simulation Object Container | Specifies the folder in the Simulation Navigator in which the boundary condition will be stored. The list includes the root container and existing folders that you created using the New Folder command. Examples of a root container include Load Container, Constraint Container, and Simulation Object Container. |
| Folder Manager | Displays a hierarchical listing of existing folders. To create a new folder, right-click any level of the hierarchy and choose New Folder. |
| Region | |
| Group Reference | Applies the flap boundary condition to the selected group. For more information, see Group Reference options. |
| Select Object | Lets you select the faces or elements on the flow surface that defines the flap boundary condition.Excluded lets you remove individual entities from within your selected object. The software does not apply the simulation object to the excluded elements.Note: The Element Selection Filtering options are available when the Type Filter list on the Top Border bar is set to Elements. |
| Stacked Smart Selector Methods | Opens the Smart Selector Methods dialog box where you can specify a progression of smart selection filters. For more information, see Smart Selector Methods dialog box. |
| Parameters | |
| Operating Criteria | Specifies when the flap opens and closes. The software treats the selected region as a flow surface until the flap opens. When the flap opens, the software treats the selected region as an opening where the fluid flows freely from one side to the other.Pressure DifferenceOpens the flap when the maximum static pressure difference between the two sides of the selected surface reaches the value you specify in the Differential Pressure to Open box and closes the flap when the maximum dynamic pressure at the selected region reaches the value you specified in the Dynamic Pressure to Close box.TimeOpens and closes the flap when the solution time reaches the times you specify in the Opening Time and Closing Time boxes, respectively. |
| High Pressure Side | Available when Operating Criteria is set to Pressure Difference.Specifies the high pressure side of the selected region which the flow solver uses to compute the maximum static pressure difference to open the flap.Note: The top side of a shell has the normal pointing outward. |
| Initial State | Specifies the initial state of the Flap: open or closed. |
