Maximum Analysis Frequency scenario (Acoustics BEM)

Maximum Analysis Frequency establishes the validity of a model's element size at different computation frequencies for acoustic fluid and microphone meshes. These meshes are valid up to a certain frequency, after which the quality of the results generated from them depreciates. Therefore, if you want to increase the upper-frequency limit of your analysis, you must decrease the element size and increase the number of elements. Element size validity is computed for each frequency and is represented by the percentage of valid elements to all elements in the model.

This scenario is available with the Acoustic BEM results file (.ssndb) as a data source.

You can visualize the results for an acoustic mesh or microphone mesh as an XY plot. The XY plot displays the percentage ratio of the valid elements versus the computed frequencies. The plot indicates the percentage of elements that are valid at the given frequency.

  • The first frequency on the X-axis represents the frequency value for which 100% of the elements are valid. It is the maximum frequency that is still valid for all the elements.

  • The last frequency on the X-axis is the largest requested solution frequency.Maximum Analysis FrequencyIn this example, the Help Line in the Probing Mode represents that at 19,000 Hz, 93.69% of the elements are valid for the acoustic mesh while only 11.83% of the elements are valid for the microphone mesh.

Note:

Maximum analysis frequency is not computed for 0D elements.
