Create elements

Manually creating elements

  1. Choose Nodes and Elements tab→Elements group→Element Create .

  2. Choose the Element Family and Element Type for the new elements.Note: The types of elements you can create depend upon the solver you selected when you created the FEM file.

  3. Specify the mesh collector to which to assign the new elements.

  4. Choose whether to add the elements to a new or existing mesh node.

  5. Click Select Nodes or Points and select the nodes or points to use to create the element. The order in which you select the nodes determines their connectivity.

  6. (Optional) Specify the Label to use for the new node.

  7. Click Close when you finish creating elements.

Manually creating a series of 1D elements

  1. Choose Nodes and Elements tab→Elements group→Element Create .

  2. Choose 1D from the Element Family list and select the appropriate element type from the Element Typelist.Note: The types of elements you can create depend upon the solver you selected when you created the FEM file.

  3. Specify the mesh collector to which to assign the new elements.

  4. Select the Create Chain of Elements check box

  5. Click Select Nodes or Points and select the first and second node to define the first element in the series. The second node that you select automatically becomes the first node to define the second element in the series.

  6. Select the second node to define the second element in the series. This node automatically becomes the first node to define the third element in the series.

  7. Continue to select nodes or points to define the 1D elements that you want to create.

  8. Click Close when you finish creating elements.
