Extrude elements

1. Choose Nodes and Elements tab→Elements group→Element Extrude .

2. Select the elements to extrude.From the Type list, choose whether you want to extrude element edges or faces.ChooseElement Edges to create 2D elements.ChooseElement Faces to create 3D elements.Click Select Elements to select the element edges or faces to extrude.

3. Use the Number of Copies option to specify the total number of elements to extrude in succession from the selected element edges or faces.

4. Use the Direction menu to choose the method to use to extrude the elements.

5. Depending on the Direction you choose, specify additional options to control the extrusion.If you choose...Specify these options...Along VectorSpecify the vector along which to extrude the elements.In the Distance group, choose whether to specify the distance to extrude each copy of the selected elements or the total distance to extrude all copies. Then, enter the extrusion distance.(Optional) Specify a twist angle.Along PathSpecify the path along which to extrude the elements.Project to SurfaceSpecify the vector along which to extrude the elements.Select the surface to which to extrude the elements.Element NormalIn the Distance group, choose whether to specify the distance to extrude each copy of the selected elements or the total distance to extrude all copies.Enter the extrusion distance.

6. If necessary, use the Type list in the Element Properties group to select the type of elements to create.

7. Specify the mesh collector to which to assign the new elements.

8. Choose whether to add the new elements to a new or existing mesh.

9. (Optional) Use the Label options to control how the software defines the labels for the new elements.

10. Click OK or Apply.
